THERAPEUTIC RELATIONSHIP

Research has substantiated that the single most important element in determining whether or not you will have success in therapy (ie meeting goals and expectations, feeling better, resolving problems etc) is the quality and depth of the therapeutic relationship.

This is "boutique" therapy-- tailored to you in every way possible, co-creating the type of treatment and services that you feel will best serve you in every area and phase of your life.  

I am always thinking about my clients and how to best serve them.

I have a well-established high retention rate, meaning clients who:

  1. stay for on-going services after initial meeting

  2. stay with me in "maintenance" for several years-- therapy is not about crisis, its about evolution

  3. return for services after having met treatment goals and then having another life issue to address​

HOW WILL I KNOW IF WE ARE A GOOD FIT?

  When people ask me what they should look for in a therapist, I tell them to consider:

         

  • Do you feel safe and comfortable with this person?

  • Do you feel they have a solid amount of expertise in the areas you'd like to address, & can provide psychoeducation, resources and skills in a way that you can use?

  • Would you want to hang out with them in real life if it were a different relationship?  (This is important because if you are spending at least 45 min a week with someone in a vulnerable and intimate way,  its better to like them—their personality and way of engaging and communicating)

MY STYLE

I have been told that I convey a combination of warmth, caring and competence—I'll take it!

Sometimes I describe my style as a "hug and a push."  While I truly believe in meeting you where you are…let's not stay there!   

 You came here to change yourself and your life for the better, and I take very seriously that it is my job to do everything in my power to work with you to improve your situation.

 I know you can choose to be anywhere, doing any number of things, and so when you choose to spend your hard-earned time and money with me, I value that deeply.​ To that end, I do my best to keep my client hours per week lower than many clinicians so that I can commit fully and go deeper with the clients in my care. 

 

Oh and if you are squeamish about your therapist using profanity, we might not be compatible :) 

MY PHILOSOPHY

My philosophy is that outpatient therapy is less about pathology and problems and more about growth—working with whatever is blocking you from becoming the best version of yourself, living your best life.

  • ​You will not have to wonder what I think or if there is a clinical rationale, because I am dedicated to therapeutic transparency. ​

  • I strive to be a direct and genuine presence within the therapeutic space, a co-creator of your wellness.

  • ​When you bring me your issues, I am going to work with you to make sure we "throw everything we have at it," until you feel it is resolved.

  •  If I don't have the answer, I will make it my mission to discover what I can and I will ask you to do the same!! ​​
